Job Description

The Associate Director, Engineering Sciences Project Manager is a role based at the VCGT Providence site who will report to the VP Engineering Sciences to drive departmental objectives in the VCGT Engineering Center of Excellence. The incumbent will support the delivery of cross-functional project management excellence across Engineering Research, including coordination of internal activities in Device R&D, Translational Engineering, and Prototyping and Instrumentation with cross-functional areas such as CMC, Pre-Clinical, Clinical, and other departments. This incumbent is expected to apply project management best practices to enable the execution of integrated project plans and deliverables for cross-functional device development teams and portfolio operations initiatives, with an immediate focus in overseeing and managing tech transfer activities from R&D to CMC.

The Preclinical Safety Assessment, Bioanalysis, and Comparative Medicine (PSA/BA/CM) Program Management Associate Director will be responsible for the integration, creation, and execution of multiple complex PSA development plans. By partnering closely with Project Leaders and cross-functional Project Team members, the incumbent develops and maintains fully integrated project plans to ensure that deliverables are successfully executed, are in accordance with project and disease area objectives, and are within budget. The incumbent is also responsible for comprehensive communication, including status reporting, risk management and escalation of issues to cross-functional stakeholders and Senior Management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop project timelines, project dashboards, trackers, and tools to support program execution
  • Generate and maintain high quality integrated project plans, manage inter-dependencies, and identify scheduling constraints
  • Plan team meetings by drafting agendas and partnering with stakeholders to collate meeting materials
  • Provide active meeting management by capturing minutes and tracking action items
  • Engage team members to understand stakeholder needs and incorporate feedback into deliverables
  • Methodically track all high-level program deliverables, and seek out innovative ways to stay abreast of this multi-dimensional task, such as new operational practices or advanced technology
  • Communicate complex project information including timelines, status, risks, and issues
  • Ability to independently facilitate team discussion


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree, with preference for Life Sciences or a relevant field, and 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good understanding of project management principles, best practices, tools, technology, and method.
  • Experience with Microsoft project, smartsheet, or any other project management software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Pharmaceutical drug discovery and development understanding across one or more disciplines, preferably with experience in medical and/or combination device experience
  • Organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong collaboration skills to effectively interact with teams and stakeholders
